‘Stay Faithful In The Routine’ - Joel Osteen

Every day we have a choice -

we are either moving towards our goals or falling behind. We are never standing still. That is just an illusion. Running is like any other goal. To make progress we must be consistent in our training day in day out. No excuses.

Being consistent is the key to success and to any form of progress. Over time, those minutes of training, turn into hours and the hours turn into days, days into weeks and weeks into years. Slowly but surely we begin to see changes in our bodies and our minds. We become stronger and fitter and as we do we begin to achieve more than we ever thought possible. Distances and times we once thought we were incapable of, all of a sudden we are achieving and surpassing them. But, to do so we must stay faithful in the routine, mundane, 'every day' days of training.

The key to all progress is in our daily habits and routines. We must set our course and stick to it day in day out. Anyone who is anyway successful at anything works at it day in day out until that goal is fulfilled.

There will be many days when you don’t feel like training. It’s just another ordinary Tuesday and raining, you’re hungry and it’s dark outside. You are tired, you don’t want to get out of bed, your children have been up half the night, you have a mountain of work to do at work. You’d rather stay in bed or watch TV and rest.

But that’s not what those who have ever accomplished anything do. They do it when they don’t feel like it. They set their routine and they do it because that’s what they said they were going to do. Commitment is doing what you said you would do long after the mood you said it in has left you You must see our goals in your mind and even though you can’t see progress yet you must remain committed to our course of action.

In this instant gratification age we have been so accustomed to asking for something and getting it straight away, from a shopping purchase, to instant knowledge via our smartphones. As a result, it’s too easy to give up when we don’t see instant results, when things aren't going our way or we have temporary setbacks. We work hard for a week, a month but we're not losing weight, we are not getting faster, so we quit. But to achieve success, we must stay committed to the routine. Know that if you put in the work and if you are honest with yourself, you will reap the rewards.

To achieve results, there are no shortcuts. There may be hard work without success but there will never be success without hard work. Stay faithful in the routine - it’s in the routine, tough, lonely miles that the rewards are achieved..
